(Hesperia)—The recent Grand Opening of the Ross Dress For Less store at the High Desert Gateway Center in Hesperia meant more than a new source to find clothes at a deal, it meant the creation of a total of 70 jobs for local residents.
“We thought (in the beginning) that it was about 45 jobs. When the (Ross) regional manager made his announcement, he said it was 70 jobs. All local jobs here,” Hesperia Mayor Thurston “Smitty” Smith said Wednesday night.
In addition, the High Desert Gateway Center has seen the recent openings of Golden Corral Restaurant, Marshalls, Styles For Less, Rue 21 and Farmer Boys Restaurant.
It is estimated that all these stores have combined for the creation of more than 200 local jobs.
