From Staff Reports

(Victorville)–Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 is observed as “Make a Difference Day”.  The Victorville Police Station Explorer Post #502 is working to help the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House (LLRMH) stock up on much needed supplies for the families that stay there.

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House has provided a “home away from home” for over 12,000 families of critically ill children since it opened in 1996. LLRMH provides a comfortable private guest room with all the normal amenities of home, with a common shared living room and kitchen. LLMRH prepares one home cooked meal a day for the families and have a fully stocked kitchen for self preparation of other meals.

The Victorville Police Station Explorer’s goal is to help supplement the supplies that are made available to the families staying at LLRMH, as this year’s funding for these supplies is nearly gone. The following are items listed on the LLRMH wish list that can be donated:

Gift Cards requested – Stater Bros. Market, Wal-Mart, 99 Cent Only Store, Smart & Final, Costco, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Office Supply Store and telephone calling cards.

Kitchen supplies requested – food handler gloves, zip lock bags, foil, plastic utensils, paper plates/cups/bowls, napkins, paper towels, dish washing detergent, wax paper, and an industrial size can opener.

Office, cleaning, and personal hygiene supplies requested-copy paper, bus passes, card stock paper, colored copy paper, deodorants, baby wipes, dryer sheets, disinfectant wipes, Lysol sprays, feminine products, pocket size sewing kits.

Your support of this project would be greatly appreciated. All donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Victorville Police Department, located at 14200 Amargosa Rd., Victorville.  The last day we will accept donations will be October 22, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. Perishable food items i.e. milk, eggs, coffee creamers, sugar, concentrated juices, instant oatmeal, frozen pancakes/waffles/hash browns, can be donated directly to the LLMH located at 11365 Anderson Street, Loma Linda.  Please contact Karen Hooper at 909-558-8300 if you would like to arrange making such a drop off at their location.  The Victorville Police Station will be delivering the donated items on Saturday October 23rd, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
