Helping our youth: Victorville Police & Fire Activities League opens new building.

 (Victoville)—The former Victorville Public Works Department building is now the site of a positive joint effort between the Victorville Police Department and the Victorville Fire Division.

Wednesday, marked the Grand Opening of facility designed to host the youth of the city of Victorville for various programs, including sports and leadership disciplines. “Our focus is to help guide the youth of this city with programs that can shape them into responsible residents and adults,” Victorville Police Department spokeswoman Karen Hunt said.

The opening event attracted many members of the community, teenagers and young adults. The event also included an exhibition boxing match from members of the program.

Hunt said there are still open spots for young people to join the program and opportunities for sponsors to help with this leadership program.

Organizers explained that the program will allow young people up to 20 years old to train in boxing and other leadership disciplines.
