Improving our quality of life: County enhances challenge course at Mojave Narrows in Victorville.

Staff Reports

(Victorville)– The Board of Supervisors has added climbing boulders to the features that will be offered at a new Challenge Course at the county’s Mojave Regional Park near Victorville.

“The Challenge Course will be a welcome addition to the many attractions at Mojave Narrows, offering visitors the chance to navigate an assortment of physically challenging features designed to promote fitness,” said First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt.

The board authorized the purchase of two manufactured climbing boulders for use at the Mojave Narrows Regional Park Challenge Course, construction on which began in August. The Challenge Course is similar to a military-style ropes course, but is at a level that does not require specialized supervision or training.

The course has room for future development for additional challenge course elements as funds become available.

The Challenge Course will be located at the central activity focus area near the zero-depth water playpark, picnic shelters, restrooms, and parking lot. The Challenge Course will be utilized by school groups just as the water playpark currently is, and will be available on a year-round basis.

Mojave Narrows Regional Park is located along 840 acres of the Mojave River Basin near Victorville. Information on San Bernardino County Regional Parks can be found at
