(Barstow) — The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved an agreement with the City of Barstow to rehabilitate Avenue H.
“The people of Barstow rely on Avenue H for access to the Avenue H Soccer Complex and Fogelsong Park. I’m pleased this pavement project is getting underway,” said First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt.
Avenue H between West Main Street and Armory Road is in poor condition. More than 95 percent of the roadway is in the City of Barstow and almost 5 percent is in an unincorporated area south of Interstate 15.
Therefore, the city will pay $1,452,942 of the $1,523,000 project, and the county will fund the remaining $70,058.
The agreement calls for the city to lead the project and administer the design and construction phases. The city will advertise, award and initially fund the construction of the project.
The project will extend the life of the pavement and provide a smoother driving surface.
