(Hesperia)– Longtime council member Mike Leonard was voted in Wednesday night as mayor of Hesperia, taking over for Thurston “Smitty” Smith. “I am feel very lucky and happy to have been nominated and have won. I want to thank the people of Hesperia,” Leonard said.
Among his priorities for his two year term, Leonard listed public safety, the development of more commercial sites and the 12-screen movie theater in downtown Hesperia were chief.
Leonard also listed the upcoming Ranchero underpass as a top priority.
