Find Out What’s In Store For California Businesses
It’s a new year and a new Govenor. Find out what’s in store. Join the Legislative Action Committee tomorrow Thursday, January 6, 2011, 4:00 p.m. at the Victorville Chamber of Commerce to hear California Chamber of Commerce’s Marlene Carney, Director of Chamber Services discuss the political forecast for California and what it means to business. There is no cost to attend, simply email Michele to confirm your attendance.

Local Solar Project In Jeopardy
The 250 MW Mojave Solar Project could well represent one of the largest solar power developments in the world – once on-line it will be capable of producing more solar energy than all nine of the current large-scale solar plants in the Mojave Desert combined – enough for approximately 90,000 homes.  It is projected that over 60% of the jobs this project would generate would come from the Victorville area.  Add to that the additional commerce for businesses it would bring and it could be a great windfall for the area.  Chamber member Abengoa Solar is developing the project, and would like to request your help because a serious issue has arisen that threatens to bring an abrupt halt to the Mojave Solar Project. The Mojave Solar Project will be financed in part by a Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Loan Guarantee funded under Section 1705 of the stimulus legislation. If Congress votes to rescind the remaining funding available for the DOE Federal Loan Guarantee Program, Abengoa Solar would not be able to obtain project financing for the Mojave Solar Project and the company’s investment in this project and the accompanying jobs and electricity capacity for San Bernardino and Kern Counties will be lost. If you or your company might benefit from this project and would like to show your support click here for a sample letter to send to Howard P. (Buck) McKeon. You may email Kaye at Abengoa Solar to place your company on the bidding list or for further questions on the project.
