(Apple Valley)Every parent, big sister, older brother and baby sitter needs a place to entertain the little ones in their life and the Town of Apple Valley has just the right thing! Buck-a-bouts, bongos, spring riders and a sky runner are among the fun features of the new Civic Center Park Playground built to accommodate over 200 children.
Feel like a kid again and come on out to the grand opening Tuesday, February 22nd at 4 p.m. featuring prize drawings, refreshments and more. Enter by the Aquatic Center on Bass Hill Drive off of Dale Evans Parkway.
The XSCAPE Play System equipment is a sleek, modern design that encourages stretching, upper body fitness, competitive spirit, unique movements, and fun, all at the same time! Each structure is built for a specific age group making it easier for parents to determine the safest area for their child.
The playground structures feature 8 slides, 5 climbing walls, 2 sets of drums, 2 train whistles, 1 telescope, 20 climbing features, and more than 5 sets of chin up, pull up and monkey bars.
In addition to the three main structures there are 2 teeter tots (called Buck-A-Bouts), the Sky Runner, 8 swings (4 tot swings), 2 dinosaur spring riders, 1 find me fossil board, and 1 rotating picture board.
All of this and the Town is still keeping it green, the equipment has varied percentages of recycled content depending on the material. The playground was purchased with numerous grant funds: “Enriching Your Community through Play” from Game Time, an Economic Development Initiative 06 grant, and three smaller grants for recycling.
