Citibank and Inland Empire Women’s Business Center Award Top Three “It’s Your Time Program” Participants

(Victor Valley) – California State University, San Bernardino’s Inland Empire Women’s Business Center awarded Meghan Kennedy first place winner of the “It’s Your Time Program” on February 7th.

In an effort to encourage women to start a business, the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center has developed an intense program consisting of workshops, business planning and business counseling. CitiBank is the sponsor of the program titled “It’s Your Time: An Entrepreneurial Training Series for Women”.

Three graduating participants were selected to receive an award and launch their new business venture. First place was awarded to Meghan Kennedy, Second- Marcella Waggoner, Third- Joan Jones. Participants attended ten workshops, completed a business plan and worked directly with a business counselor to complete the program by January 11, 2011. Business plans were scored by a panel of judges and the top score won a cash prize and a prize package valued at more than $1500. Furthermore, of the 29 program participants, two women have already started their business.

The graduation ceremony on February 7th recognized 11 program participants. Nine participants completed the required workshops and completed a business plan. Each woman was given a Certificate of Completion from the IEWBC and a Certificate of Recognition from Neil Derry, Supervisor for San Bernardino County, 3rd District.

Applications are now being accepted for the fall IYT program. The application is available at www.iewbc.org, and will be accepted until 5:00 pm on February 23th.

The Inland Empire Women’s Business Center is a program of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The IEWBC provides business counseling, training and mentoring designed for and targeted to women business owners. The center also has a part-time outreach office in Corona.

The Inland Empire Women’s Business Center is located at the IECE Business Resource Center, 202 East Airport Drive, Suite 100, just off Hospitality Lane. Hours of operation are as follows: Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday by appointment. The center has a part-time outreach office in the city of Corona.
