Larry Woodard Brings 30 Years of Fundraising Experience to the High Desert

(APPLE VALLEY) –– St. Mary Medical Center is pleased to welcome Larry Woodard as the new St. Mary Hospital Foundation Vice President. Woodard has more than 30 years of experience in hospital fundraising and has demonstrated success in strategic planning, campaign management as well as community and corporate relations. He previously served as the Foundation President at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee where he led the development of a $100 million capital campaign. He also previously worked as the special counsel to the president for principal gifts at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. For eight years, he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Hospital and Health System Foundation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Woodard holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma and is a Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. Throughout his career Woodard has shown his ability to coach and mentor staff, manage multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns and develop relationships in communities.

“We are pleased to have Larry join St. Mary at this exciting time as we begin to plan for the new Victorville campus and continue to expand the Apple Valley campus,” said Randy Bevilacqua, Vice President of Communication. “The Foundation’s support of the Medical Center allows us to carry out our mission and provide quality care to the communities we serve.”

“It is a great honor for me to be associated with St. Mary Medical Center, as well as St. Joseph Health System, of which St. Mary is a part,” Woodard noted. “I truly feel that I was brought here to help with a very important mission for the people of the High Desert, especially as St. Mary begins creating a remarkable new medical and wellness center along Interstate 15 in Victorville. To know that many more High Desert residents will have excellent care close to their homes is exciting and inspirational.”

Woodard added that local residents have extended a warm welcome to him and his wife, Juanita, making them feel truly blessed. They look forward to getting to know the community better. The couple is also pleased to be living near their son, Doug, and daughter-in-law, Hej, who have lived in Pasadena for the past 18 years. Doug is vice president of By-Deluxe Media located in the Los Angeles area, and Hej works in project development for a motion picture production company. In addition, Larry and Juanita have a daughter, Laura, who lives in New York City and owns and operates a fashion public relations firm that represents up-and-coming designers.
