(Hesperia)– Beginning April 4, 2011 through April 15, 2011 the City of Hesperia Animal Shelter will be participating in the Qualifying Heat of this year’s ASPCA $100K Challenge, competing for grants totaling $300,000 from the ASPCA, including the top prize of $100,000. Supporters of the Hesperia Animal Shelter can help by voting online at www.votetosavelives.org everyday April 4-15, 2011. The first step is the qualifying heat where, with enough votes, the City will qualify to compete in the Challenge itself.
“The ASPCA $100K Challenge is a great motivator for our community to help connect hundreds of adorable cats and dogs in our shelter with the right families,” said Mayor Mike Leonard. “Each email address can vote once a day, so tell a friend and tell a neighbor that the City of Hesperia needs your help find homes for homeless cats and dogs in Hesperia.”
The 2011 ASPCA 100K Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters aiming to get more animals adopted or returned to their owners than ever before. The first phase is the Qualifying Heat were registered shelters compete to accumulate the most online votes from their supporters. The 50 shelters with the most votes become the official contestants for the Challenge.

the hesperia city animal shelter is a busy facility. Its not able to manage the area it is in.
The shelter could use the gant money to improve is operating capacity and to care for the many animals it houses, as well as facililty improvement.
Euthanizing animals is not the answer to the issues at hand.
