(Apple Valley)– Heralding the completion of new bicycle lanes on Dale Evans Parkway, the Town of Apple Valley Park and Recreation Department will host a kick-off ride along the route on Thursday, March 24.
Participants are invited to meet at Lenny Brewster Sports Center at 21024 Otoe Road at 6:30 p.m. in preparation for the ride that is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. Riders will cycle to Waalew Road and circle back to Lenny Brewster Sports Center. There is no cost to participate but helmets are a must.
Affirming the Town Council’s commitment to improving non-motorized access throughout the town, the bike lanes were completed in October as part of the recent widening of Dale Evans Parkway. The kick-off was scheduled this month to take advantage of the time change.
In addition to celebrating the project, the ride is part of the Healthy Apple Valley Coalition that strives to improve the health and well-being of residents through the promotion of healthy eating, education, cooking programs, and physical activity. The Healthy Apple Valley Coalition was made possible through a grant from the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health – Healthy Communities Program.
