(Hesperia)– In February, Hesperia residents brought in 1,043 waste tires during the City’s free waste tire recycling event that will be recycled and may end up as Green Roads. Their efforts are helping to reduce the amount of waste tires that end up in illegal stockpiles and landfills and put them to better use, such as in road paving and civil engineering projects.
The City of Hesperia is hosting another free collection event April 9, 2011, between 7:30 am – 12 pm.Hesperia residents can take up to nine passenger car and light truck tires to the collection location across the street from Advance Disposal located at 17105 Mesa Street, to be recycled free of charge. State law limits transportation of no more than nine tires per resident, per trip. Tires from businesses, semi trucks and large equipment vehicles will not be accepted. For more information about this and other recycling programs, please visit www.cityofhesperia.us or call (760) 947-1711.
CalRecycle’s “Green Roads” campaign raises awareness about using recycled waste tires in road paving and civil engineering projects through the use of RAC (rubberized asphalt concrete) and TDA (tire-derived aggregate) throughout the state.
