(Victorville)–Victorville Councilman Mike Rothschild has decided to retract his statement to not run for re-election in 2012 and says he expects to be re-elected for yet another term. “I am doing this because I love the City of Victorville and I am not going to stand down when a bully like Dan Tate is pushing people around trying to gain control of the council.”
“What are Tate’s motives any way? He does not live in Victorville, he is not doing this out of the kindness of his heart; he wants to be a puppet master of the council so he can get contracts for his development company,” Rothschild told High Desert Daily.
With renewed spirits, Rothschild says he will work hard to make sure Victorville is able to solve the budget deficit he is facing and mentioned that is can be done with by working along with city staff. “We have the most wonderful and professional staff. We can do this. We have to remain positive for the benefit of our city.”
Rothschild along with council members Jim Kennedy and Rudy Cabriales are the target of a supposed recall lead with Tate, who owns Majestic Land.
Rothschild mentioned that a recall would cost the City upwards of $290,000 in election costs. “We don’t need that, we need unity and need people who don’t live in the city to stop creating unwanted controversy so we can get on with solving our city’s problems,” Rothschild said.
