(Victorville)– Four-D College will soon expand its successful Dental Assistant program to its Victorville campus.
The program is now offered only at the Colton campus. Four- D College is building a new dental skills lab at the Victorville campus, and plans to begin offering the program in there in June.
“We are pleased to be able to offer the Dental Assistant program, in Victorville,” said Four-D College President and CEO Linda Smith. “In the past, students have come to Colton from as far away as Apple Valley. Now, High Desert residents can learn how to be dental assistants without having to travel so far.”
When these students graduate from the eight-month program, their skills will be in high demand. The California Dental Association lists 85 member dentists in the High Desert.
Four-D College’s Dental Assistant students in Colton often are able to find work as dental assistants immediately upon graduation. That happened to 2010 graduate Catalina Espinosa of Fontana, who was hired by Oasis Dental Clinic after she completed an externship there.
“After being placed at Oasis Dental, and having them see first hand what I could do, I was hired full-time,” she said. “I would encourage anyone who is looking to join the medical field to check out Four-D College. It really is a great school, and if you are eager to get to work, they can help you speed up the learning process so you can finish in a few months. Then you can start doing what you really love to do.”
