Showing Fiscal Prudence In A Tough Economy

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– The Agency’s board and staff have been working in earnest developing the Fiscal Year 2012 budget, which isn’t scheduled to be finalized until June 10th. Property taxes-the largest revenue source for the Agency-are expected to be down for a third year in a row, prompting the Agency to consider some of the same actions taken for the current fiscal year to ensure that expenses don’t exceed projected revenues. Some of the steps include: deferring certain capital projects, reducing department initiatives and administrative expenditures, and instituting a hiring freeze. Before the final budget is adopted by the board in June, there will be six workshops to craft a¬†workable spending plan. For workshop times, visit the Agency’s website at and click on “Personnel, Finance and Security Committee” and “Board of Directors”.
