(Apple Valley)– If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, participants at next weekend’s Health and Fitness Expo in Apple Valley might not have to see their doctor for a long time.

The free event, scheduled to take place on May 21, will feature cooking demonstrations, diabetes education, blood pressure testing, fitness training, raffle prizes, dental care, health insurance vendors, nutritional supplement information, music and more from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the James Woody Community Center in Apple Valley.

Additionally, free fun family activities have been scheduled including a rock climbing wall, face painting, petting zoo and an educational hand washing station.

The Expo is part of the Town’s “Healthy Apple Valley” initiative to improve the health and well-being of residents through the promotion of healthy eating, education, family events and physical activity. The James Woody Community Center is located at 13467 Navajo Road at Powhatan Road.
