(Victorville)–Did Horton really hear a “Who”? Are “Green Eggs And Ham” really good for you? And why in the world is that cat wearing a top hat? These questions and many more may or may not be answered in the Creative Arts Theatre production of “Seussical”, but finding out is guaranteed to be entertaining for the whole family.
This delightfully engaging musical combines all the wonderful and magical images of Theodore Geisel’s “Dr. Seuss” stories. Directed by Cherie Glisson, with Patrick Summers as Musical Director and Choreography by Hannah Schramm, Creative Arts Theater brings this marvelous production to life at the High Desert Center for the Arts at 15615 8th Street in Victorville through May. Performances are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with evening performances at 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday and matinees at 2:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $14.00 for Adults and $12.00 for Students and Senior Citizens.
Starring John Paul Vargas as “The Cat In The Hat”, the show features 11 year old Sydney Schultis as “JoJo”, Robert Keil Blomberg as “Horton the Elephant” and Rosalie Mastaler as Mayzie La Bird. John Paul Vargas has performed in both classics and contemporary plays from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream” to “Godspell”. Sydney, despite her tender age is already a stage veteran, with performances in “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”, “Godspell”, “Annie” and “The Wizard of Oz” to her credit. You might also recognize her as the winner of the 2010 “Apple Valley Most Talented Kid” contest.
Robert Keil Blomberg is also a veteran of stage, having performed in “Grease”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Willie Wonka” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, and Rosalie Mastaler has been a pianist and vocalist as long as she can remember. She has also performed on keyboards for the popular local swing band “Phat Cat Swinger” as well as numerous acts at Granite Hills High School. in Apple Valley.
Also performing are Patrick Mayor as “Mr. Mayor”, Chloe Anne Madison as “Sour Kangaroo”, Rebekah Hamrick, Kyra Glisson and Angel Rojas as “Bird Girls” and Daniel Hamrick, Danny Chaviarra and Garrett Botts as “Wickersham Brothers”.
