(Apple Valley)– The Today’s Woman Foundation and its Board of Directors is proud to announce that Miss California 2010, Arianna Afsar, will be this year’s Mother’s Day Luncheon Key Note Speaker on May 11, 2011 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville.

The Foundation Board felt that Miss California would be an excellent choice as guest speaker for this year’s Mother’s Day Luncheon as she brings a positive influence to both younger and older women alike. Attendees will have the privilege to hear Miss Afsar speak on her accomplishments as well as perform a song or two for the attendees.
She is currently attending UCLA to obtain a BA Degree in Music. She was Top 10 Miss America 2011, a contestant on the most recent American Idol season, and backup singer to Taylor Swift at the American Music Awards. Also at the Luncheon this years’ Daily Press Inspiring Woman nominees will be honored. Stephan Wingert will be presenting these women with a certificate of appreciation including proclammations from local and state officials for their service to this community.
Most importantly, the Foundation will be presenting two awards, one to a woman with a medical challenge for $1500 and a second scholarship award for $1500 from the Anna Sugi Endowment Fund. Nominations for these awards are being accepted through April 25, 2011.
“We are proud of the fact we can offer an additional award this year from the Today’s Woman Anna Sugi Endowment Fund” states Diana Pasillas, President of the Today’s Woman Foundation. “Anna was such an inspiration to most. And although she is not physically with us anymore, due to her recent battle against Breast Cancer, she will be with us in spirit”. Anna was very well respected within the High Desert Community, in addition to her being an instrumental leader to one of the largest Medical Groups in the High Desert, Choice Medical Group. Her passion and commitment to the High Desert Communities speaks for itself. Anna had a vision eleven (11) years ago to provide women in our community with valuable information and offer appropriate tools to help enhance their mind, body and spirit; thus the Today’s Woman Foundation was formed. She had brought forth many ideas, inspirations and maintained a true dedication to the healthcare industry and the Foundation. Anna was a true inspiration to many as her efforts have helped a number of residents in our own community. “I look forward to carrying on her legacy”, stated Pasillas.
At the luncheon, the Today’s Woman Foundation Board will announce the special guest speaker for the Today’s Woman Expo calendared for October 15, 2011, at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds.
