(Victorville)– The Today’s Woman Foundation and its Board of Directors will host the fifth Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon on May 11, 2011, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville. This year’s Mother’s Day Luncheon Key Note Speaker will be Miss California 2010, Arianna Afsar.
Diana Pasillas, President of the Today’s Woman Foundation, said, “This particular event honors the Daily Press Inspiring Women. The Foundation will also give to awards. The first award of $1500 goes to a woman who is medically challenged. The other one is a scholarship from the Anna Sugi Endowment Fund. That goes to a woman who wants to further her education, no matter what her age, someone who is seeking to better her education and her future.”
“We are also going to unveil the guest speaker for the Today’s Woman Expo happening in October,” Pasillas continued. “We will also be doing a special recognition of Anna Sugi, who lost her battle with breast cancer in December.”
The Today’s Woman Mother’s Day luncheon was started as a way to honor women who contribute so much to the community. “It is an opportunity for the Foundation to give an award during the Mother’s Day celebration. There are so many women out there who are battling any one disease, whether its cancer or heart disease, diabetes or kidney failure, or help with dialysis. This is an opportunity to help these women with their medical bills,” explained Pasillas.
Nominations come from local businesses, as well as local physicians. “Two local physicians, Dr. Eric Hansen and Dr. Ron Kamath, are awards sponsors this year,” said Pasillas.
Beginning this year anyone who is interested in applying for a scholarship or a medical award can contact the Today’s Woman Foundation http://todayswoman.org/ to obtain the application. The award will be given at next year’s luncheon.
Sponsors for this year’s luncheon include Choice Medical Group, Choice Physicians Network, The Daily Press, Spring Valley Lake Country Club, Mitsubishi Cement Corporation, Athena Jean Salon and Day Spa, RadNet Imaging and ICR Staffing.
