(Victorville)-Just as High Desert Daily premiered last week, current Deputy City Manager Doug Robertson was named last night by the Victorville City Council as the new boss at City Hall.
The 3-1 majority vote, with Vice Mayor Rudy Cabriales absent and Council woman Angela Valles voting against it, also revealed that Robertson was offered a three year contract at a salary of $200,000 to be paid in the first year, according to City Attorney Andre de Bortnowsky.
“First year compensation would be at $200,000 in year one with it going up to $225,000 in year two, assuming there are other budgets cuts or constrains in year two,” the City Attorney stated.
Current City Manager’s Jim Cox resignation was accepted with a 4-0 vote. Cox will leave his position effective June 30th.
It is expected Robertson name current Director of Economic Development. Keith Metzler as his Deputy in the next coming days.
Robertson is well respected in the community and is considered as a “pro-business” city executive.
I had the pleasure of working with Doug Robertson in San Bernardino for many years. Doug is an upstanding guy and Victorville is very fortunate to have him. Congratulations Doug!!
