(Victorville)-Current City Manager Doug Robertson will be Victorville’s next City Manager, High Desert Daily has learned exclusively. Robertson has gained the confidence of the majority of the council and has been offered a multi-year contract to make him the next City Manager replacing a retiring Jim Cox.

High Desert Daily has also learned that current Redevelopment Director Keith Metzler will be named Robertson’s deputy and will also be offered a multi-year contract.

“Robertson went from being a “figure head” under former City Manager Jon Roberts to the right hand man when Jim Cox took over,” City Councilman Mike Rothschild said when approached by High Desert Daily.

“Doug learned under 30 years of experience and integrity that Jim Cox brought to the job. Doug has the credentials to be a strong city manager and to be incredibly valuable for Victorville. No one with any resume can take the place of what he has been through for the last two years,” Rothschild added.

Robertson and Metzler maintain a very positive image among the business community and both have shown to share the vision of the council to create well paying jobs by using Southern California Logistics Airport to create a multi modal job market.

Official confirmation from the City of Victorville is expected to be announced in the next City Council meeting.

Robertson should be a good choice. I have dealt with him before and he was always a pleasant person. Am glad Metzler did not get it, his head is above the clouds.
