Many local businesses are striving to make ends meet in these hard economic times. Negative information or news about an area can only have adverse affects on a community when being view from an outsider or tourism perspective.  In the United States, tourism is an enormous industry, serving millions of international and domestic tourists yearly. The industry is a major portion of America’s service sector and one of the nation’s largest employers.

The tourism industry centers on the simple premise that travel for recreation and leisure is pleasurable. Tourists—who are defined as people who travel outside their homes for not more than a year and who do not earn money in the location visited—are the industry’s clientele. The United Nations has designated that domestic tourism involves residents traveling within one’s own country. For instance, Americans traveling throughout the United States fall into this category. Inbound tourism is the name given to tourists entering a country. Tourists from other countries visiting the United States fall into this category.

When enterprises are locally rooted, human-scale, owned by stakeholders, and held accountable to the rule of law by democratically elected governments, there is a natural incentive for all concerned to take human and community needs and interests into account. When income and ownership are equitably distributed, justice is served and political democracy is strong. When needs are met locally by locally owned enterprises, people have greater control over their lives, money is recycled in the community rather than leaking off into the global financial casino, jobs are more secure, economies are more stable, and there are the means and the incentives to protect the environment and to build the relationships of mutual trust and responsibility that are the foundation of community.

As a Public Platform it’s very important for us to give  press and credit for all the great things and accomplishments of our local businesses, government officials, and other Community Organizations. We should work together as a community and encourage entrepreneurs and tourist from other areas, and this is why we should highlight the positive information first.

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.

Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Some consider the subject as just nonsense, and others scoff at people who believe and accept it. Among the people who accept it, not many know how to use it effectively to get results. Yet, it seems that many are becoming attracted to this subject, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it. This is a subject that is gaining popularity.

It is quite common to hear people say: “Think positive!”, to someone who feels down and worried. Most people do not take these words seriously, as they do not know what they really mean, or do not consider them as useful and effective. How many people do you know, who stop to think what the power of positive thinking means?

When you think positive, you tend to act positive. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Could we change our attitude, we should not only see life differently, but life itself would come to be different. It is the civic responsibility of every citizen to bring out the positive in this area, and earn the respect that is well deserved  for all of our accomplishments on a state and national basis.
