San Timoteo Creek Basin Excavation Project to start In The Loma Linda And Redlands Area

(Victor Valley)–The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works Flood Control District today started a basin excavation project in San Timoteo Creek.

The project is necessary due to the debris and sediment left in the basin after the storms in January through March 2010. Clearing this debris and sediment must occur to restore capacity to provide flood protection from future storm activity. The project area runs from Barton Road to US Basin #18 and the contractor will remove approximately 550,000 cubic yards of material from the basin.

The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works Flood Control District awarded the contract to the lowest bidder, Spiess Construction Co for $4,448,000. This project is funded with property tax funds. The project will take 120 working days and working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be truck activity in the area, flaggers and message boards will alert residents of the traffic.
