(Victor Valley) – The Inland Empire Women’s Business Center at Cal State San Bernardino received funding from Citibank to offer free training to women who want to start their own businesses.
In an effort to encourage women to start a business, the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center in partnership with Citibank has developed an intense program consisting of workshops, business planning, and business counseling. The program is titled “It’s Your Time: An Entrepreneurial Training Series for Women”.
Nicole Kinney, Director of Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, explained, “This program is an intense business start up training series that is geared to give the women who participate the technical assistance, encouragement and accountability that they need to get the ball rolling on their projects.”
To be considered for this free program an application must be submitted by Monday, September 12th. The application is available on IEWBC’s website www.iewbc.org
“Applicants must also submit a one page essay about the business that they want to start and why they want to start that business,” said Kinney. “We leave it pretty open and with very few guidelines because we want their character to show through their essay.”
Participants chosen will attend a minimum of ten workshops, complete a vision board, write a business plan, and work directly with a business counselor in order to complete the program by January 13th, 2012. Three graduating participants will be selected to receive an award to help launch their new venture.
“For any women wanting to start their own business, this program is a really great place for them to launch. It provides women with the initial know-how to get their feet wet in the business environment,” said Kinney. “It really gives entrepreneurs that introduction so that they can be as prepared as possible before investing their time and money into this business venture.”
The program provides services in English and Spanish to Latina business owners, currently the fastest growing group of women business owners in the country.
For more information or to apply for the program go to www.iewbc.org or call 909-890-1242. The application will be accepted until 5:00 pm on September 12th.
