(Victor Valley)–Members of the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers will set up their telescopes at the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands on Saturday evening, September 3, 2011 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Club members will bring several sizes and types of telescopes, ranging from refractors to reflectors to ‘compound’ optics. This Moon Party, suitable for all ages, is free to the public.
“We will be observing the first quarter moon,” said Chris Clarke, program coordinator for the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers. “It should be a real crowd-pleaser since we’ll be able to see an incredible amount of surface detail, even at low powers. We might also catch some ‘double stars,” like Alberio, whose two stars are sapphire blue and bright yellow.”
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
