(Victorville)- – The Victorville Police Explorer Post #502 placed second overall in the 12th annual Central Coast Law Enforcement Explorer Competition this past weekend in Paso Robles.
This competition is designed to test the strengths and limitations of the Explorer’s intelligence, personality, demeanor and physical abilities as well as dedication and conviction to the Explorer Program. Victorville Station Explorers competed against 44 other stations and brought home a total of 9 trophies, including the 2nd overall. Explorer Sabrina Rey was awarded 1 of the 10 scholarships available through the competition – $500 and a laptop.
Earlier this month at the High Desert Hispanic Chamber Annual Awards Banquet, Explorer Joanna Cervantes was awarded a $500 scholarship from the High Desert Hispanic Chamber.
The Victorville Police Station is proud of the accomplishments Explorer Post #502 has made this year, according to their press release. They are dedicated young individuals that invest many hours of their time to the program, while maintaining respectable grades and getting involved in many community events throughout the year.
Residents of Victorville that are interested in participating in the Explorer Program can stop by the police station and fill out an application. Applicants will be contacted before the next academy is held.
