(Victorville)–Today’s Woman Foundation will host their Today’s Woman Expo on Saturday October 15, 2011 starting at 9 am at the Victorville Fairgrounds. The guest speaker will be Dr. Susan Love, a champion of cancer research, author, researcher and head of Avon’s Army of Women.
The goal of Today’s Woman Foundation is to “empower today’s woman” through the delivery of resources to enhance body, mind and spirit. As part of this effort, the Foundation recognized many High Desert women who are battling serious illness, giving service and improving our community. Event emcee and Y102 radio personality Colleen Quinn loves that this foundation is local. “We can get some bad press up here, but I was born and raised here and this is the kind of thing I love about the High Desert. I will always support them!”
“The Today’s Woman Foundation and its Board of Directors felt that Dr. Susan Love, President of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and founder of the National Breast Cancer Coalition, and author of The Breast Book, would be the best choice as Today’s Woman Expo Guest Speaker,” President Dianna Hess said.
This will be the 11th Annual Today’s Woman Expo that the Today’s Woman Foundation along with Choice Medical Group and Choice Physicians Network has hosted. Major sponsors include Choice Medical Group, Choice Physicians Network, High Desert Daily, The Daily Press, Victorville Motors, Mitsubishi Cement Corporation, Eric Hansen, D.O., RadNet Imaging and ICR Staffing, Athena Jean Day Spa and Salon just to name a few.
The Foundation Board felt that Dr. Susan Love would be an excellent choice as guest speaker for this year’s Expo as her mission along with the Avon Army of Women Research Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer and improve the quality of women’s health through innovative research, education and advocacy which compliments the mission of the Today’s Woman Foundation.
Dr. Love strongly feels that we have the tools we need to get to where breast cancer starts and only need the will and resources to make prevention a reality. In addition to being this year’s guest speaker, she will also do a book signing on her 5th edition of The Breast Book, The Bible for Women with Breast Cancer. This book clearly provides essential information and expert guidance to women facing a diagnosis, decisions about treatment or concerns about prevention.
Dr. Susan Love is Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA and President of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. In addition to being founder of the National Breast Cancer Coalition, she was appointed by President Clinton to the National Cancer Advisory Board. Dr. Love has been on Good Morning America, The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as featured in the LA Times, NPR Magazine, Ms. Magazine, O Magazine and the New York Times.
