Chamber Breakfast Keeps Members Informed On New Ordinances

By Staff Reports

(Victorville)–Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt and Corie Lopez, of the Institute for Public Strategies made this month’s Victorville Chamber VMI an informative program. Supervisor Mitzlefelt spoke about the recent redistricting and how the final redistricting maps came to be. The supervisor let us in on the fact that high schoolers had actually drawn 2 better redistricting maps that didn’t get the votes. The representative from the Institute for Public Strategies talked about the recent Social Host Ordinance that Victorville has adopted and will take affect at the end of this month. This ordinance holds adults responsible for allowing underage drinking in any place they own, lease or otherwise control, with incremental fines. Research has shown that these ordinances have a great impact on quality of life for residents. Be sure not to miss next month’s VMI, Nov. 2 when Mayor Ryan McEachron and SANDBAG Engineer Duane Baker will speak on the Nisqualli/La Mesa interchange.
