(Hesperia)- – As part of the City of Hesperia’s continued involvement in Make a Difference Day, the City is participating in the Biannual Citywide Clean-up Day on Saturday, October 22, 2011, held in conjunction with San Bernardino County Free Disposal and Recycling Day and Make a Difference Day.
“Make a Difference Day is the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying students, families, service organizations, businesses and other groups into action together on one day to make a difference in the community,” says City Manager Mike Podegracz.
Citywide Clean-up Day provides an opportunity for Hesperia residents to dispose of household items for FREE between 7:30 am and 12 pm, on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Advance Disposal located at 17105 Mesa Street (enter from Santa Fe). Hesperia residents may drop-off bulky items such as furniture, appliances and mattresses in addition to general household trash. All items must be bagged, boxed or bundled and NO concrete, loose dirt, rocks, or hazardous waste items will be accepted. Seniors and the disabled may schedule curbside pick-up for all items excluding tires, by calling (760) 947-1225, before Thursday, October 20, 2011, at 3 pm.
The City is also offering a Tire Amnesty Event during Citywide Clean-up Day across from Advance Disposal. Hesperia residents may dispose of up to nine (9) rimless waste tires free of charge. Proof of residency is required and tires from commercial dealers will not be accepted. This collection event is jointly sponsored by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery.
