(Apple Valley) — High Desert residents will have a rare opportunity this Saturday. The Apple Valley Home Depot at Bear Valley & Apple Valley Roads has agreed to conduct a pilot plant sale on Saturday, October 15th from 9:00am-2:00pm where customers can save up to 50% on a selected group of plants.
“We’ve worked for the past 8 years with the larger home improvement stores to get them to stock some of the more appropriate desert plants, and it has been difficult because we’ve got little response until now. So if this event is successful on Saturday then the Home Depot will expand the sale of similar plants at the five Home Depot stores in MWA’s service area,” explained Conservation Program Manager Tamara Alaniz.
“The sale is only from 9 to 2, a pretty limited amount of time, so we want to make sure that the information is out there for folks. We don’t want them to show up at 3 and miss the sale,” said Alaniz.
There will be other vendors there that specialize in drip irrigation, mulch, soil treatments and other areas. Alaniz said these vendors usually have special sales too. “But the big promotion is the plants.”
A few of the plants available include shrub and ground cover, some flowering plants, plus cacti and succulents.
“We really want people to come out to the sale. We want a lot of participation. There are going to be hundreds of plants that are available, a lot of good selection and good quantity,” said Alaniz.
With Fall being the best time to plant, be sure to visit the October 15th Plant Sale.
