(Victor Valley)– The historic Calico Ghost Town has once again been transformed into a winter wonderland as their Holiday Festival fast approaches.
The festival takes place on November 25th until the 27th; the festival will also have a tree lighting ceremony on November 26th at 5:30. Located in Yermo, CA, which is about 20 minutes from Barstow, Calico Ghost Town is a historic landmark, as well as “California’s Silver Rush Ghost Town” as proclaimed by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. Every year, Calico hosts a Holiday Festival, which features live music, gunfighters, and of course, Santa Claus. Event Specialist Noele Wayne gave us some insight into the event.
“We will have gunfights, which everyone loves, Native American dances, live music and a tree lighting on 11/26 with everyone singing carols and free cookies and cocoa provided to those in attendance.” Wayne also stated the continuing tradition of receiving a free decorated collectible bear with receipts totaling $75 or more from stores in Calico.
The fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down, as that marks the beginning of the Festival of Lights, which boasts a site to be seen. “For those that want to stick around and stroll Main Street, our festival of lights takes place after sunset, where you can see our town decked out in thousands upon thousands of lights!”
