(Adelanto) The holiday season has a magic all it’s own, and part of the reason why is due to city Christmas Parades. This year marks the eighth year for Adelanto’s Annual Christmas Parade, and it has grown since we saw it last.

The parade will be held on December 10th, with a start time of 10:00 am. Zachery Ellis, Recreation Coordinator for the City of Adelanto, spoke to High Desert Daily via telephone and told us about the parade, as well as some of the changes that are happening this year. “This is the 8th annual Christmas Parade, it is one of the biggest in the High Desert. We give back to the community by giving away a various number of prizes as far as the participants, as far as cash prizes, as far as trophies.”

The parade has always featured some of the schools in the Adelanto School District, and this year the number of school’s attending has grown nicely, with schools outside of the district coming to take part in this holiday event. “This year we have bands from Silverado High, Victor High, Apple Valley High, Granite Hills, Vanguard Prep, and Riverside Prep. The parade is for the community to show that the city of Adelanto is definitely there for them and wants to give back.”

Lets not forget the stockings, which has become a tradition for the parade. This year, it’s a little different, now aimed to give more back to students in Adelanto directly. “This year, we are giving away a six-foot stocking of candy and toys as a raffle, where one winner will be picked per each of the 12 schools in the Adelanto School District.”

The parade is made possible through the Adelanto Community Benefit Corporation, a non-profit organization that is composed of funds from fundraising and donations, and uses these funds to provide events and community services.  Some of those upcoming events will include Maverick’s Stadium. “The Benefit Corporation will also put on movies at the stadium this coming year, as well as various events for the community.”

If you have any questions about the parade, feel free to visit the City of Adelanto’s website at or you can call Zachery Ellis directly at (760) 246-2300 ext. 3060.
