(Victorville)–As the much-anticipated La Mesa/Nisqualli Interchange Project moves closer to construction, San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) and the City of Victorville will hold two meetings to share project
information with the general public. Interested parties are invited to attend one of the two meetings scheduled for December 1st and December 8th at Mojave Vista Elementary and Liberty Elementary respectively. Project team members from both agencies will be on hand for this open house style meeting to answer specific projectrelated questions and highlight opportunities for staying informed during the life of the construction period.
The new La Mesa/Nisqualli Interchange will provide a new east/west cross-over point for local traffic, as well as offer a freeway access alternative to Bear Valley Road to the south and Palmdale Road to the north. This significant addition to the Victorville transportation infrastructure will ultimately ease congestion, improve local circulation and enhance overall safety to Interstate 15 in that area
“Partnering with the City of Victorville in the delivery of this major interchange project showcases the emphasis SANBAG puts on ‘Governments Working Together’ to improve the quality of life for the people we represent,” said SANBAG President Larry McCallon.
Award of the approximately $31.8 million construction contract to apparent low-bidder, Riverside Construction, will be voted upon at the SANBAG Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, December 7 th. Pending approval by the Board, construction is scheduled to begin by late January. Private utility relocation is already taking place in preparation for the primary construction activity.
