(Victor Valley)– – At its annual awards presentation, the regional section of the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) honored the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA) with a pile of awards, including Plant of the Year.
The local agency received eight awards the CWEA’s Mountain and Desert Section, and is now eligible in the same categories at the state level. The fact that VVWRA was able to maintain their level of excellence had special significance this year given the challenges the agency has faced, added Olds. During winter storms in January, one of the agency’s main interceptors was damaged, spilling millions of gallons of wastewater into the Mojave River. Staff came together in what was a large-scale clean-up and repair effort while carrying their normal duties at the highest standard.
“As a general manager, I couldn’t be more proud of our team,” Said Logan Olds, General. “They are always looking to improve the performance of the plant and they don’t let anything distract them from their mission”
Nominated by their peers, the agency and its staff received the following awards:
Laboratory Person of the Year – Chris Wills
Mechanical Technician of the Year – Randy Main
Electrical/Instrumentation Person of the Year – Mauricio Marin
P3S Person of the Year – Latif Laari
Public Education Person of the Year – Ryan Orr
Supervisor of the Year – Chieko Keagy
Safety Program Award
