(Victor Valley)–The County San Bernardino Regional Parks holds competitive fishing derbies at their five lakes through the season. In December 2011, 306 anglers vied for $1000 in cash and other prizes at the Cucamonga-Guasti fishing derby in Ontario. The winner and runner-up each hooked and landed monster rainbow trout weighing more than 10 pounds apiece – and the top five fish from the derby combined totaled more than a whopping 38 pounds!
The next trout fishing derbies will be held:
January 7, 2012 at Yucaipa Regional Park, 33900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa.
February 11, 2012 at Prado Regional Park, 16700 S. Euclid Ave., Chino.
The derbies begin promptly at 7 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. Park gates will open at 6 a.m.
Participants must have a valid California State fishing license. Derby entry is $15 per person, plus $10 vehicle entry into the park. For more information, visitwww.sbcounty.gov/parks or call (909) 38-PARKS.
