(Apple Valley)– There is no reason for young animal enthusiasts to be bored during their spring break. The Town of Apple Valley Municipal Animal Shelter is offering a week-long Junior Pet Keeper Camp that will provide fun, friendship and live animal encounters!
The program is open to children ages 10 to 18 and will include arts and crafts, pet health care classes, hands-on sessions with animals, basic animal grooming training, and an opportunity for participants to do some community service.
“Our fall camp was a huge success. We are pleased to be able to offer another session,” explained Animal Services Manager Gina Schwin-Whiteside. “Teaching children the importance of proper animal care and keeping in a fun and entertaining way helps them grow up to be responsible pet owners.”
The shelter will offer two sessions this month to accommodate local school schedules. Session one will be March 12 to 16 and the second one from March 19 to 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Each session costs $30 per participant and will culminate with a drop-in doggy wash for donations to help support future youth animal education programs. Enrollment is limited to 20 children per session.
The Apple Valley Municipal Animal Shelter is located at the corner of Powhatan and Quinnault roads. For additional information call (760) 240-7000 ext. 7555 or visitwww.AVAnimals.org.
