(Calico) – If you haven’t been up to Calico Ghost Town lately, you should make a point to head out this weekend for the Spring Festival.
Calico was an old mining town so its Old West heritage will certainly be showcased at the festival. They will be featuring several Americana acts, a Bluegrass workshop, plus plenty of Cowboy Poetry.
Some of the musical performers include Neal Casal, David Bourne (from HBO’s Deadwood), Debby Clinkenbeard, Henry Fencepost, Bon Family Cloggers, Saddle Strings, and a Saturday night dance with The Big Fat Steve Band. Eric Uglum presents a guitar workshop, K C Douglas has line dancing, and the resident gun fighters will be there thrilling the crowd. There will also be an Arts & Crafts Fair.
Author Paige Peyton of the latest “IMAGES of America” series “Calico” will be there today to sign her book. Released in March of this year, the book explores Calico’s history, from the mining of silver and borax, to Calico’s most famous visitors, and how Calico developed into the attraction that it is today. Peyton collected more than 200 photographs depicting 130 years of the once-booming mining town.
