(Victorville)—High Desert residents are invited to “mow down air pollution” by trading in an old, gasoline-powered lawn mower for a new, emission-free, cordless electric model this Saturday during the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District’s Electric Lawn Mower Exchange Event, which takes places at the Victorville Fairgrounds from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon. Online pre-registration is recommended and being accepted through May 4 at www.blackanddecker.com/events. Visually-impaired residents or those without Internet access may pre-register by calling 1-877-290-3423.
Residents may bring an operable, gasoline-powered mower – emptied of all gas and oil – to the Fairgrounds on May 5 and exchange it for one of two Black and Decker models: an 18” cutting width mower with a 36 volt battery for $99 (regular price: $349) or a 19” cutting width mower with a 36 volt battery for $129 (regular price: $399). Cash, checks or credit cards will be accepted as payment on site.
