(Victor Valley)–In April, Lockheed Martin asked me to sponsor an F-35 exhibit and simulator at the Capitol. Needless to say, I was thrilled by the prospect of the simulator coming to Sacramento so we could show-off this elite fighter to Legislators and other decision makers. April 18th was the big day and it was great to see members of the legislature get a chance to sit in the cockpit and experience the immense capabilities of the F-35, albeit in the simulator. I watched as my colleagues, including the Assembly Speaker, stepped into the cockpit and gently landed on an aircraft carrier, or shot down enemy aircraft with ease. The Lockheed Martin crew was exceptional, and it was helpful for members to see not just the technology, but also the economic impact that the F-35 has on our state. Living in the Antelope Valley, we are fortunate to have many opportunities to see America’s innovative military designs in person and overhead. The Raptor or B-2 might fly over our beautiful desert and we should never take it for granted that the men and women who conceptualize, build, and fly those platforms are protecting our great Nation.

You still need 2 hands to land on a carrier like I did in the old days. 🙂
