(Apple Valley)–In today’s economy, it is common for businesses to be more efficient with fewer employees. The Town of Apple Valley is no different. Fortunately, the Town has employees like Public Services Assistant Tina Kuhns, who was chosen as the most recent Employee of the Quarter.
“Always cheerful, Tina carries out any task placed in front of her with the utmost efficiency,” explained her supervisor, Denis Cron, Assistant Town Manager of Municipal Operations and Contract Services. “She has been instrumental in helping the Town maintain department effectiveness and smooth operation despite the retirement of several key staff.”
Kuhns was hired in 2004 as a clerk/typist and was quickly promoted to Public Services Technician. She will soon earn her Public Works Certificate from Victor Valley College.
“I love my job and enjoy working for the Town of Apple Valley. I’m very lucky to work with such a wonderful group of people and feel honored to receive this recognition,” said Kuhns.
Among her long list of accomplishments that have improved customer service to the public and her fellow co-workers, Kuhns was responsible for tracking and processing all of the contracts associated with the construction of the recently completed public works facility as well as the grant management of the photovoltaic parking lot shade structure that was completed behind town hall a few months ago. She does all of this while performing administrative-based functions such as maintaining multiple calendars, scheduling meetings and appointments, handling customer calls for Public Services, Public Works/Street Maintenance, Solid Waste and Recycling, Wastewater, and providing service to walk-in customers.
“Tina’s demeanor is always caring, professional and efficient. Town staff knows they too can count on Tina to come through in every way,” said Cron. “She truly goes above and beyond in every respect, to provide the type of service to Town residents that truly reflects ‘A Better Way of Life’ and captures the respect of her co-workers.”
