(Hesperia) – A wayward bird caused headaches and delays for motorists and business owners in the area of Main and G Streets in Hesperia Monday morning.

According to Southern California Edison a bird flew into one of their transformers, causing damage to an underground cable and knocking out power to 4000 homes and businesses.

Edison crews were on scene quickly and had power restored to all but 4 customers by late afternoon. However, one of those customers that was not restored was the signal at Main and G Streets.   Temporary stop signs were put out, but traffic was pretty heavily backed up through the area. Hesperia Police said that traffic flow was reduced westbound on Main from I Ave.

SoCal Edison initially said the signal would be operational by midnight; however they were able to restore signal function by 6pm.
