(Pinon Hills) – A fast moving brush fire is threatening homes near Pinon Hills. The first reports came in around noon that a fire was burning in brush near Hwy 138 and 263rd, right at the San Bernardino/LA County line. Fire crews from both LA County and San Bernardino County have responded.
The Oasis Fire is threatening 15-20 homes, and crews are providing structure protection. Evacuations for homes along Mountain Road right at the County line were about to go into effect.
The California Highway Patrol responded to shut down Hwy 138 in the area. The highway is expected to be closed for at least 2 hours. There were reports of a lot of people along the 138 pulled over watching the fire.
The last update from fire offices said that the fire was at 18 acres and had shifted from burning to the east and is now burning to the south. Airtankers are dropping retardant and helicopters are making water drops. There are several fire engines on scene and a dozer crew.
