(Victor Valley)–The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors today approved an agreement that will allow a flood control project in the unincorporated Mountain View Acres area of Victorville to move forward.
“Mountain View Acres has had a history of flooding during major storm events that have caused serious property damage, and this project will help to significantly reduce or eliminate the impacts to those residents,” said First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt.
The project will collect the flows and route them to an existing culvert under Highway 18. The agreement approved today with Caltrans outlines maintenance and liability responsibilities within the highway right of way.
The $8 million project is funded with a portion of property taxes that go to the San Bernardino County Flood Control District. It will provide protection against a 100-year storm, and will protect the property of numerous homeowners.
Construction is scheduled to begin in September or October and be complete by the end of summer 2013.
