(Victor Valley)– It is that time once again, Southern California. Thousands are heading out to San Diego this week with one thing on their mind: Comic Con. The mecca of pop culture is here, and it looks to be one of the biggest yet.
Comic Con International, better known as the San Diego Comic Con, starts up today with a preview night and runs all the way through Sunday. The show, which has been sold out for months now, is the largest pop culture convention in the world, with last year’s attendance totaling around 140,000. What started as a gathering for comic books fans and creators has grown into something all want to attend: from films to television shows to video games and so much more, the San Diego Comic Con is a one stop shop for entertainment.
This year, there will be no shortage of stars. With actors from this year’s hit film The Hunger Games set to appear, plus characters from the Twilight film franchise on hand to screen footage from the last film in the series. Marvel films will have a strong showing as well, and the next Marvel film looks like it will be revealed at the con, along with a peek into next year’s Iron Man 3. Of course, comic film fans are all hoping for a glimpse at next year’s Man of Steel film, and possible news of a Justice League film, after the colossal success of this summer’s Avengers movie.
Fans of the television shows Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Psych will be overjoyed as well. The casts for all three shows will be in attendance, holding panels where they will go over the new seasons coming this year. With Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead being instant classics from AMC, and with Psych continuing the laughs on the USA Network, fans will definitely want to meet their small screen heroes in person at the con.
If you are a pro wrestling fan, then there is definitely something for you as well. Many wrestling organizations have a presence in some way at the con, and this year even more so. Fans of the WWE should be on the look out for autograph signings by WWE Champion CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and many more. The WWE talent will be making appearances at the Mattel booth, so if you are attending, make sure to keep and eye out.
High Desert Daily will be on hand to cover all the crazy costumes, stars, comic book creators, and more. For more information on the San Diego Comic Con, make sure to visit them online at www.comic-con.org.
