(Victor Valley)- – Since July is one of the warmest months of the year, it makes sense that it would be designated as Smart Irrigation Month: used to raise awareness of the value of water-use efficiency, and demonstrate the demand for water-saving products, practices and services.
“Smart irrigation is critical to protecting our local water supplies for future generations,” said Tamara Alaniz with the Mojave Water Agency. “When homeowners and businesses learn to water more efficiently, they also see results in their own water usage by significantly reducing their outdoor watering.”
High desert residents and businesses can practice smart irrigation through efficiency upgrades like smarter, weather based irrigation timers and better designed sprinkler heads.
First launched in 2005, Smart Irrigation Month is gaining traction as homeowners, businesses and others recognize the potential impact of efficient irrigation, in July and year-round.
“Conserved water supplies are a critical piece of the regional water supply picture – the more water we save, the more we have for future generations,” Alaniz said.
Alaniz went on to say that what is most important is that water users educate themselves on how to reduce their water use and avoid water waste. Resources are available from your local water company or visit http://www.mojavewater.org/saving-water-outdoors.html.
