Swing On Over To Apple Valley For Great Music Featuring Phat Cat Swinger This Thursday

By Staff Reports

(Apple Valley)–Looking for some fun, free summer entertainment? Swing on by the Apple Valley Civic Center Amphitheater July 12 to see Phat Cat Swinger entertain with their high-energy music from 6 to 9 p.m. when Desert Valley Hospital presents the Sunset Concert Series.

This 10-piece band has been called one of the best bands to dance to in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas, mixing the classic sounds of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin with the jumping guitar and brass tunes of the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Phat Cat Swinger has opened for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, performed shows with Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and The Coasters, and appeared in videos for Christina Aguilera and The Jonas Brothers.

The Town of Apple Valley is the only venue in the high desert offering free weekly concerts every Thursday night. The event features food vendors, a beer garden by the Apple Valley Rotary Club, live music and dancing. The park has inclined lawn seating for more than 1,500 people, so concert goers should bring blankets or portable chairs.

The Sunset Concert Series will continue Thursdays through August 9. The entertainment line-up for the rest of the summer includes:

  • July 19 – Four Shadows Fall (Positive Alternative)
  • July 26 – The Gypsy Dolls (Pop/Variety)
  • August 2 – The Silverados (Country)
  • August 9 – Cold Duck (Oldies/R&B)

Civic Center Park is adjacent to Apple Valley Town Hall and across from Super Target in the Apple Valley Commons shopping center. Parking and admission are free. Visit www.applevalleyevents.org or call (760) 240-7000 x 7071 for more information.
