(Apple Valley)- – St. Joseph Health, St. Mary is proud to recognize the dedication and contributions of Ha-Rry Kim, a junior volunteer, with a $1,000 scholarship. Ha-Rry has volunteered at the medical center for two years and has given her time each week to help medical center staff in the Laboratory, Outpatient Surgery, front desk and as assistant to the junior volunteer coordinator. She has donated 392 hours to the medical center and its patients.
Ha-Rry graduated from California Virtual Academy and is already enrolled at Victor Valley College. Ha-Rry is planning to pursue a career as a psychologist or psychiatrist. Ha-Rry is grateful for her experience as a junior volunteer at St. Mary and knows it will aid her in her education and later her career. “At St. Mary, I learned to be loyal to my duty as a volunteer. Whether I was helping a patient, nurse or other staff member at the hospital, their day could depend on my actions,” Ha-Rry said.
St. Mary has 45 junior volunteers in its program, which is coordinated by Genienne Pettyjohn, who is also a volunteer. The junior volunteer program is just one way the medical center reaches out to High Desert youth to provide them opportunities to learn more about healthcare as well as the importance of giving to their community.
