(Victorville) – The VESD board is very proud to announce Jan Gonzales as Victor Elementary’s interim superintendent. Jan has over 17 years with Victor Elementary and has enjoyed an outstanding career as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent of administrative services. Jan achieved distinction in her career as District and County Teacher of the Year, and while she was the principal at Galileo Academy, the school earned the California Distinguished School Award. The board is confident in Mrs. Gonzales’ leadership, and we know she will represent VESD well as the board embarks on its superintendent search process. Please join me in welcoming her as interim superintendent.
The departure of Superintendent Dale Marsden will be felt throughout district. Dr. Marsden had been with our district for the past 22 years starting as a teacher, then a principal and eventually working his way up to Superintendent. As Superintendent, Dr. Marsden lead the district with innovative ideas such as Steam 2020 in which his goal was to have every child who graduates from local high school to also graduate with an AA degree in either Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math. His leadership will be missed, and on behalf of the Victor Elementary School District Board we wish Dr. Marsden the best of luck in all his future endeavors.
In regards to where our district goes from here, the Board has decided to appoint Jan Gonzales as the Interim Superintendent as we start our search for a new Superintendent. As the President of the Board and in conjunction with the Board, I want to assure you that this board will do everything it can to find the best person to be the Superintendent of VESD to continue our tradition of excellence.
