(Victorville)–The St. Baldricks Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. Since 2000, over 240,000 volunteers, including over 24,000 women, have shaved their heads – in solidarity with children with cancer – at events nationwide. These shaves have risen over $146 million for life-saving research as well as becoming a walking billboard for the cause.
On Saturday September 8th, the Mavericks Baseball Club is stepping up to the plate in partnership with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for the, first ever, “Mavericks BaseBald Event.” Supporters are invited out to become local heroes for kids battling cancer. There will be a head shaving event beginning at 6:00pm followed by a baseball game at 7:05pm. If you aren’t into shaving your head for the cause you can also help by donating to the foundation or purchasing tickets to the game on September 8th.
The head shaving event is for anyone who wants to raise awareness for childhood cancer research. Being a child losing their hair can be very traumatic and this is an awesome way of providing some comfort and showing support that they can relate to. If that’s not enough, it just an overall opportunity to part of something amazing!
